At George Fox University, we place a high value on compelling video content that showcases the quality programs and amazing people in our community. Specifically, our academic content offered through the "George Fox Digital" (GFD) program requires engaging lectures, storytelling, and other teaching modes through audio and video formats.

The video producer position is responsible for all phases of educational video and audio production, taking a concept and bringing it to life within the framework of the GFD team. Responsibilities include planning, scripting, interviewing, lighting, capturing audio, editing, creating motion graphics, producing, and directing. Additionally, we require successful applicants to this position to have facility with purely audio formats, e.g., creating podcast audio, posting podcasts and writing engaging descriptions of content, etc. If you are a one-man-or-woman show who can work independently with great results, we're looking for you! Special consideration will be given to applicants who perform excellent work both shooting video/audio and also editing and producing final videos, though we will consider strong candidates who excel primarily in one of these areas.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (general, for all GFU video producers):

  • Meet regularly with the Director of George Fox Digital to help determine video production priorities and work independently to meet those needs.
  • Conceptualize, plan, shoot, and edit video and audio, providing a finished product within the deadline assigned.
  • Create a finished product that meets our high standards for both audio and video quality.
  • Ensure that video enhances the university's image and conforms to our brand message.
  • Post videos to YouTube, Vimeo and other university media channels. Track viewership habits and statistics to increase effectiveness and reach.
  • Assist with social media promotion strategy and provide video clips and other content for our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages on a regular basis.
  • Stay on top of industry trends as well as the latest software and video equipment.
  • Ensure copyright law is followed with both audio and visual content. Work with third parties to acquire licenses as necessary.
  • Occasionally assemble and lead a crew for larger projects.
  • Applicants with photography experience will occasionally be asked to put that skill to use as needed for projects.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (specific, for George Fox Digital):

  • Help create digital curriculum content including lecture series, introduction videos, resources, and activities in collaboration with faculty.
  • Collaborate with GFD team to deliver educational content that increases engagement and effectiveness. Build and execute new ways to create the educational experience.
  • Help launch the creation of GFD podcasting and public branding initiative, "George Fox Talks," through simultaneous podcast + video recording and posting content to appropriate channels.
  • Create and assess metrics used to create better digital content for hybrid courses and for online-only options.
  • Create curriculum guidelines utilizing available and/or brand new technology and social media tools and communicate these guidelines to faculty/staff.
  • Moderate content on social media channels as needed.
  • Create a library of music, sounds, footage that enhance George Fox Digital Content.
  • Lead a small production team consisting of pro-staff and student workers.
  • Create Be Known promise content including mini-documentaries, introduction videos, podcast series with faculty, and other content that would enhance student/faculty relations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in video production or a related experience, with demonstrated experience producing a wide range of high quality work.
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with video editing software (currently, we're using Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premier); expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with audio and lighting equipment.
  • Experience with both "run-and-gun" style production and studio production. Able to quickly adapt to either situation.
  • Ability to create motion graphics preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to occasionally work nights and weekends.
  • Applicants with demonstrated social media expertise will be given special consideration.

Supervises: Occasional video work-study students (10-20hrs/week) and, occasionally, production crews
