Systems Administrator

Purpose:

As a Systems Administrator you will work with our institutional technology team to provide technology infrastructure to help the university meet the needs of students and employees. You will build, secure, and maintain systems through best practices. Partnering with teams throughout the University, you will assist our department to align institutional resources with the university mission.

What you will do each day:

• Assist in the design, implementation, securing and maintenance of servers, storage, networks, and Amazon Web Services supporting all aspects of university infrastructure
• Assist with managing software installations on servers, storage, networks, and Amazon Web Services supporting all aspects of university infrastructure Provide support and troubleshooting for multiple systems used throughout the university
• Assist with the security incident response team to respond to threats Research new and alternative technologies to ensure the department continues to move forward, applying industry best practices and providing appropriate services to the university
• Create and maintain technical documentation for university systems

What you bring:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
• Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, AWS, and VMware best practices Experience provisioning and managing servers, AWS infrastructure, file shares, databases, and user accounts
• Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, and open source software such as Apache httpd, Tomcat, BIND, and Postfix
• Ability to understand various scripting languages including but not limited to Bash, Python, PHP, Java, and Perl
• Able to effectively communicate with community members through both verbal and written methods
• Possess critical thinking skills, using logic to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
