Sample Student Activities Director Job Description

Student Activities Director

This full-time, 10-month (.75 FTE) position will be responsible for supervising the planning and implementation of a comprehensive campus-wide student activities program including campus-wide student activities, clubs and student publications. The primary duties of the successful candidate will be the planning and implementation of weekly BIG events (300-1000 attendees) on campus. This position necessitates a project manager extraordinaire - the kind of person who loves planning and throwing the party for as many friends and guests as possible. Key objectives of this program include:

Professional Quality - We want to give students great experiences! Professional quality from start to finish. This impacts every level of planning and execution. From marketing concepts to the final print/digital promotions. From activity brainstorm to the final execution. Every detail needs to be thought through, planned, executed, and experienced at the highest level. These are not your typical church youth group type events - the goal is to have events students will be telling their children about 20 years from now.

Strategic Partnerships - We have others on campus that can be partnered with for even better student experiences. The goal is to leverage those relationships in ways that benefit the student experience.

High Quality Planning - Planning for every event needs to be completed in advance so the team can focus on executing what needs to be done the week of the event and not have to worry about last minute changes. It's not that last minute changes will never occur, it's just that these need to be rare and only caused by something that was out of our control.

Professional Development - We're committed to the professional development of our students - preparing them with the skills and knowledge that they'll need to be successful in the working world that actually exists (along with all its demands). We want students prepared to understand and contribute to the highest level of project planning including management and execution.
