Purpose for the Position:  To provide customer service to prospective and admitted Traditional Undergraduate students and their financial guarantors though innovative problem solving, assisting with payment for college processes, promoting sound financial decision making and initiating payment interventions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to and greet prospective and current students and families in person, by e-mail and via the telephone regarding financial policies and the payment for college process; making referrals and advocating with financial aid and other offices about services.

 

  1. Manage assigned student accounts by problem solving, promoting sound financial decision-making, providing payment estimates, payment coaching and initiating follow up actions, financial aid follow up and collecting. Included in this responsibility is exercising delegated authority for: financial clearance, payment plan approval/denial, granting financial hold exceptions and giving input in financial appeals and decisions impacting retention.

 

  1. Use integrated student software system to manage accounts. Related tasks include but are not limited to: analyze student charges and reporting system issues, set up and maintain payment plans, receipt payments, audit transactions, manage enrollment and housing deposits, process transactions for departments, impact "service indicators" and test software updates prior to implementation.

 

  1. Review and report Title IV regulatory compliance issues for withdrawn students (Federal Return of Title IV fund aid adjustments), refund requirements (Federal Cash Management rules) and payment application rules (Allowable vs Non-allowable Cost rules).

 

  1. Run queries. Use Excel to efficiently audit results, determine next action. Initiate/delegate appropriate next action and follow through. Efficiently and effectively, use Google Suite tools for management of tasks, projects and as a "workflow" tool.

 

  1. Manage departmental tasks as assigned. Initiate, learn and contribute, actively participating in an office that highly values innovation, teamwork and cross-training.

 

  1. Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.

 

  1. By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.

               

Associated Duties: 

  1. Delegate tasks to student employees.
  2. Documentation of procedures.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma and some college required. College degree preferred but will consider experience in lieu of degree.
  2. Demonstrated aptitude for technology and computers required. Proficiency using Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  3. Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills with good reasoning and judgment required.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure or in a fast-paced environment required.
  5. Must be detail oriented and organized. Having financially related customer service experience is preferred.
  6. 6. Discretion and integrity in maintaining confidentiality.
  7. 6. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
