POSITION OVERVIEW:  This position plays a key role in providing production management and technical support services to ensure a high level of cost effective customer service to the university community.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine job production resources and prioritize and schedule daily work. Provide black and white and color copying/print services to all departments and students.   Services include but are not limited to copying, printing, folding, binding, cutting, drilling, padding, laminating, tabbing, inserting, and addressing.
  • Supervise student employees, including training, delegating work, giving performance feedback, etc.
  • Manage inventory of production materials
  • Adhere to budget using best methods and solutions.
  • Determine the price of individual print jobs for preparation of monthly production billing.
  • Maintain and repair print and office equipment; schedule repair with vendor when necessary.
  • Analyze work processes and make efficiency and cost improvements.
  • Evaluate equipment needs and recommend the acquisition of technologies and equipment to the Director of Mail & Print Services.
  • Stay current on industry technology offerings and developments. Propose new services to ensure continued viability of services.
  • Adhere to all copyright laws on copying projects.
  • Monitor, design, create, recreate and/or send to Marketing Communications the design of projects for maintenance of the University logo, seal, and identity.
  • Obtain from Mail Services the design and/or approval of projects pertaining to U. S. Postal Service and mailing regulations
  • Maintain daily cash and credit sales with accuracy and integrity.

 

Associated Duties:

  • Store and maintain documents for customers.
  • Monitor and dispense the inventory of letterhead, envelopes, and other stationery items; recommend the quantity of each to be ordered.
  • Provide delivery and/or pick up from the customer and/or vendor for the completion of the order.
  • Maintain and distribute Human Resources and Plant Services forms; inform offices when additional forms need to be reproduced.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the building and room emergency response system.
  • Participate in maintaining and improving the Print Services' web page.
  • Assist in Mail Services as necessary.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot university copier fleet.
  • Convert mass quantities of unusable paper into note pads.
  • Attend mail and printing conferences/seminars.
  • Maintain organized, clean and safe work area.
  • Cross train and provide backup coverage and assistance as workload necessitates.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Trade or vocational school training in printing or minimum of three years of experience in printing or related field.
  • Valid Oregon driver license with driving record that meets university transportation policy criteria.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe, secure and productive manner.
  • Good organizational, analytical, bookkeeping and math skills, and detail orientation.
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

  • Ability to grasp or finger objects in a repetitive manner.
  • Ability to bend, kneel and reach for extended periods of time up to 4 hours.
  • Ability to routinely lift, carry, push or pull 45 pounds.
