Post-Doc Limited Term

Purpose for the position: To engage the resident in all aspects of the HCC services to prepare for independent work as a licensed psychologist. The residency consists of supervised professional psychological activities, and meets the postdoctoral supervised experience requirements for licensure in Oregon. The majority of the resident's training includes individual and group psychotherapy with undergraduate and graduate students, supervision of doctoral practicum students, clinical and assessment coordination crisis assessments, psychological assessments, administrative duties, training, and consultation/outreach.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Individual, couples and group psychotherapy.
2. Supervision of practicum students.
3. Crisis intervention and emergency services.
4. Psychological assessments.
5. Administrative duties. The resident is responsible for completing all paperwork, including notes and reports, in a timely fashion. When supervising, residents are also responsible for reviewing their supervisee's notes and taped sessions.
6. Direct provision of clinical and assessment services and management, implementation of evidenced-based research.
7. The resident may join the weekly didactics trainings to discuss issues pertinent to the training of practicum students and may help to facilitate didactics on an as-needed basis.
8. Consultation and Outreach to University Community. Residents may participate in the planning and delivery of psycho-educational workshops for students, faculty, staff, and parents.
9. Supervision and Meetings. The resident is provided with one hour of supervision per week. In addition they are expected to attend any staff meetings as applicable.
10. Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
11. By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or formal supervisory duties.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

1. Doctoral degree required
2. Demonstrated interest in and commitment to university counseling center work and college student development
3. A collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust towards colleagues and students
4. The energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging caseload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships
5. A self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals
6. An appreciation for and experience with working with a diverse student population
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills
8. An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Statement of Community Lifestyle.
9. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
10. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)
11. Previous training and experience in a college or university counseling center is desirable.
