Head Esports Coach

Position Overview: To coach the esports program and to administer supporting programs for esports. Adheres to rules and regulations governing University and National Association of Collegiate of Esports (NACE). Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission.

Essential Responsibilities | Estimated Percentage of Time:

1. Recruiting and retaining students for the esports program
2. Conducting coaching and instruction activities during training, practice and competition
3. Coordinating off-season, practice and competition schedules, assisting with team travel when necessary
4. Running camp, clinics, and promotional events
5. Pursuing sponsorship opportunities within the esports business world
6. Ensuring team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations

Associated Responsibilities

1. Continuously ensuring personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with George Fox University values and brand
2. Conducts the esports program within stated philosophy and established guidelines set forth by George Fox University and the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE).
3. Articulate the mission of the George Fox University athletic program in ways that align with the "Be Known" vision of the University.
4. Model a highly relational Christian witness to the students and employees of the University.
5. Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree (preferably in a relevant field)
2. Competitive video gaming experience
3. Coaching or teaching experience, at least one year of competitive esports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and expert knowledge of Rocket League or similar games. Ability to demonstrate a vision for a collegiate esports program at George Fox University.
4. An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with the same.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
