Groundskeeper II

Job Purpose

Enhance the working and learning environment of the George Fox community in a spirit of Christian service and stewardship by providing appropriate and well-maintained facilities. Lead, inspire and motivate direct reports to advance the strategic mission of the University. Contribute to a safety oriented, positive team culture.

Job Summary

Provides facilities in which the University mission occurs. Works directly with students providing professional training and experience while serving as an example for them of what it means to think with clarity, act with integrity, and serve with passion. Ensures that the University meets its diversion rate goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage disposal of campus waste and recycle. This includes collection, storage, and disposal of all types of waste generated on campus. It also includes following all applicable laws and regulations associated with these tasks and obtaining required permits.
  • Operate and provide routine maintenance for equipment associated with the above responsibility. This includes running a packer truck, roll-off truck, dump truck, track hoe, skid steer, and other equipment. It also includes rolling heavy dumpsters by hand to the truck. A commercial driver license is required.
  • Tracking data relating to the above responsibilities. This includes creating logs and reports for use in evaluating the cost and efficiency of the waste management program.
  • Managing and training work-study students in tasks related to the above responsibilities. Ensure that they are following safety rules and regulations.
  • Assisting the Grounds Superintendent in developing new recycle opportunities and creating new waste handling processes as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Associated Responsibilities

  • Assist in snow removal and respond to other weather related emergencies.
  • Assist in tree removals.
  • Keep work areas clean and safe.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Trade of Vocational School
  • 1-2 years of experience required
  • Full time position, Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
  • Expertise working with diverse students and employees
