Graphic Designer

Purpose:

Are you a highly motivated graphic designer looking to join a dynamic team of committed marketing professionals? We're looking for someone to help continue creating delight for our prospective students from their first interaction with us until they become alumni. The person in this role will be a part of the Marketing Communications team and will collaborate with content directors, our art director, project managers and our web team. This designer plays a vital role in communicating our vision and brand to our community through digital marketing materials.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ability to develop a concept through multiple media: web, social media, digital ads, print.
  • Design digital advertisements, working closely with the art director.
  • Design other digital communications, including emails and social media posts.
  • Design strategic and visually compelling infographics and social assets that simplify complex ideas and processes for quick understanding.
  • Design web pages within our visual brand, working closely with the web team.
  • Create animation for web, ads, email and social media using HTML 5 and/or After Effects.
  • Exercise creativity to develop concepts and themes that will be applied to a campaign featuring a wide variety of materials.
  • Generate drafts and mockups of proposed designs for the project manager to review, and make revisions as requested, ensuring design assets are high quality and meet expectations.
  • Maintain client and/or team communication from project start to finish, reviewing final work with project managers/clients and make final revisions or deliver the product.
  • Ensure George Fox's visual brand identity follows current brand guidelines.
  • Work with website developer to ensure website meets design best practices; stay current on web, email, and motion design best practices.
  • Work in a highly collaborative, team environment; receive feedback from multiple stakeholders, implement changes, and work with co-creators to turn around assets by their deadlines, managing multiple deadlines in a project management tracking system.
  • Demonstrate a Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with same.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect, and customer service.
  • Demonstrate awareness, respect and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and work well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects.
  • HTML, CSS skills for website and email design, design responsive email templates; experience producing graphics and editing and formatting text, photos and graphics in a content management system; HTML 5 for digital ads.
  • A love for and skills in Illustration a plus.
  • Experience working within brand guidelines.
  • Ability to design PowerPoint/Google Slides presentations.
  • Solid grasp of layout, typography, color, and visual hierarchy.
  • Capability of planning a strategy in relation to client needs.
  • Collaborative and creative.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team; excellent interpersonal communication skills; easygoing nature and desire/ability to take feedback, collaborate, problem solve, and work on a close-knit team.
  • Organized with excellent attention to detail with ability to prioritize, multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines on multiple projects at a time.
  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in fine arts, graphic design, illustration or web design.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills and software.
