Employer Relations Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:

George Fox University seeks a dynamic and collaborative individual who is dedicated and passionate about career development and internship opportunities for students, networking with industry, and building alumni relationships to help achieve our goals. The Employment Relations Manager is responsible for creating awareness among corporate and community organizations with regard to the benefits of hiring George Fox University students. The goals of the position are to increase job posting, recruitment, and hiring activity for the university's graduates.

 

This is a 32 hour per week job with a flexible schedule, prorated benefits, and 15 days leave.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Proactively develop and implement strategies designed to increase employment opportunities for our students and graduates.
  2. Identify and cultivate relationships with organizations and business sectors that historically have had little or no interaction with the career center and/or experience with hiring our students and graduates.
  3. Advise and counsel employers with regard to the most effective means of identifying potential job candidates at George Fox to meet the employer's specific needs, including, but not limited to campus recruitment, job postings, internships, career fairs, class/organization presentations, and resume searches in Handshake.
  4. Maintain a working knowledge of local and national employment market trends and their actual and potential impact on the hiring of college students and graduates and communicate findings to the IDEA center coaches to better coach students in their search for meaningful work.
  5. Coordinate outreach activities and communicate internship opportunities when appropriate, with other university departments.
  6. Network with alumni, community members, parents and others to find contacts within potential organizations to participate in job shadows, career fairs, campus speakers, internships and employer-focused student events.
  7. Track employer contacts to facilitate record keeping, goal setting and follow-up activities.
  8. Participate in various local, state, regional, and national organizations such as, chambers of commerce and Portland Business Alliance to increase employer connections.
  9. Identify organizations who are recruiting students of color and work with Intercultural Life to make those connections.

Perform other duties as assigned to advance the goals and objectives of the career center and the university.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in higher education administration/student affairs, human resources, business or related. Masters' degree preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of three years' full-time experience in a higher education or corporate environment focused on employer relations, college recruiting, sales, development, communications, public relations or other areas where building relationships with individuals/organizations is a major responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships across multiple populations, internal and external.
  • Employer Relations or Alumni Relations experience at a university preferred.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Keenly aware of today's current corporate and non-profit marketplace.
  • Excellent information system and database management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain collaborative relationships and professional networks with diverse populations internally and externally.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to project professionalism to constituents.
  • Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondences and other materials.
  • Value an environment that reflects the diversity of God's kingdom, engages in global concerns, and connects culturally.
