Electrical Systems Department Superintendent

Job Purpose

The purpose of this job is to allow the university to have a licensed electrician on staff that can supervise electricians and apprentices, as well as oversee the work flow, job schedules and interface with other departments, there by meeting the electrical needs of the university's daily operation.

Job Impact

This position will coordinate and prioritize electrical work orders. This will allow tasks to be completed efficiently allowing the GFU community to operate in a safe learning friendly environment. Overseeing the training of apprentices will allow the university to continue its commitment to provide safe up to date electrical systems.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and design electrical projects on campus
• Order needed parts and supplies
• Install electrical wiring, switches, panels, breakers, etc.
• Apply NEC code regulations for new electrical installs
• Oversee and train assigned apprentice and LME personnel

Associated Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical system faults
• Upgrade and replace existing lighting, motors, controls
• Perform electrical work as requested through work requests

Assigned Processes

• Supervise and evaluate employees
• Submits cost estimates for jobs
• Oversees unit safety procedures
• Generates information for building/electrical permits

Minimum Qualifications

• Trade or Vocational School
• 5 - 9 years of Experience Required.
• Full time position, Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
• Expertise working with diverse students and employees
