Content Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW

Want to share stories that matter and have your work seen by a large audience? As a marketing content specialist at George Fox University, you'll have the opportunity to do just that.

We're looking for a multi-tool player who can create compelling video, photo and written content that showcases the quality programs and amazing people in our community. This content is heavily promoted on our website and via our robust social media following.

Video production experience is the top ability desired for this position. But we're not just looking for a single skillset. Our ideal candidate is a storyteller with social media savvy, able to capitalize on user-generated content in innovative ways. Experience in graphic design, photography and writing is also desired. Show us how you can use one or more of these additional skills to effectively engage an audience and elevate a brand, and you'll have a seat at the interview table.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Meet regularly with the marketing content directors to help determine content priorities.
• Work closely with the video producer, university photographer, and university editor on a variety of projects in a collaborative environment.
• Provide compelling video clips for use on social media and assist video producer with feature projects.
• When assigned a feature video, coordinate all phases of production, from concept to finished product. This may include planning, scripting, interviewing, lighting, capturing audio, editing, creating motion graphics, producing and directing.
• Create compelling motion graphics for videos you produce.
• Seek out and amplify user-generated social media content in unique ways.
• Discover and gain expertise in new social media channels on which George Fox should be sharing its message.
• Write short captions for social media posts, and contribute ideas for billboards, headlines and, occasionally, web copy.
• Add graphic design elements to photos for use on social media and contribute to web design projects.
• Contribute engaging photos for social media and assist university photographer with studio photo shoots and other projects.
• Communicate with web team to better understand digital content needs and suggest creative solutions.
• Contribute a constant flow of innovative ideas for how to better connect with our audience across all digital platforms.
• Stay on top of industry trends as well as the latest software and video/photo equipment.
• Ensure copyright law is followed with both audio and visual content.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in video production, photography, graphic design, journalism, communications, marketing or a related degree.
• Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with video equipment and editing software.
• High-level understanding of social media strategy.
• Demonstrated experience engaging an audience with effective storytelling.
• Basic knowledge of photography equipment and editing software desired but not required.
• Basic knowledge of graphic design software desired but not required.
• Experience writing copy for social media or web use desired but not required.
