Job Purpose

George Fox University's Financial Aid team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to serve as an Associate Director of Financial Aid. In this role, they will have the opportunity to oversee the undergraduate financial aid counselors, developing them to become leaders who effectively advance the Financial Aid office and university vision. An Associate Director will have the opportunity to impact student's lives as well further the university's mission and financial health. The ideal candidate will believe in the value of a George Fox education and understand the power of financial aid. Strategic thinking and innovative leadership that helps the Director provide clear purpose, goals, and direction for the Financial Aid office and staff are qualities of an Associate Director of Financial Aid at George Fox University. In addition to leadership and supervisory duties, an Associate Director of Financial Aid will equip students and their families with the knowledge needed to navigate the financial aid process while helping them understand the value of George Fox. Exceptional customer service, initiative, proactivity, and attention to detail are qualities of Financial Aid Counselors at George Fox University. They will have the opportunity to build relationships that greatly impact student's experiences from the point of admission through graduation. They will be able to use their own experience and story to connect and encourage students through this process, while displaying compassion. In our highly collaborative environment, this person will be able to partner with admissions and student accounts to advocate and creatively problem solve to do whatever it takes to make a George Fox education possible and deliver the Be Known promise. Position Summary

The financial element plays a large role in family's decision making process and the ability for a student to persist to graduation. An Associate Director of Financial Aid's role is to assist in helping the financial aid office as a whole enroll and retain students by financially equipping them while also communicating the value of a George Fox education. The ability to successfully help students enroll and retain directly impacts the universities net revenue as well as helping to make it possible for the university to pursue our mission and vision.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop financial aid staff who effectively communicate the value of George Fox.
  • Creatively finding financial aid resources for all students.
  • Moving students efficiently through the financial aid process.

Associated Responsibilities

  • Contributes to management of the financial aid office by providing input to office policy and procedure decision.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance and keeping accurate records in the financial aid office.

Assigned Processes

  • Assist Director to create and implement clear purpose, goals, and strategic objectives for Financial Aid Office that aligns with division and university mission and purpose.
  • Supervisory duties with Undergrad FA Counselors such as leadership development, staff meetings, performance evaluations, etc.
  • Answers questions, inquiries or requests from students or parents in person, by phone or in writing regarding financial aid programs and eligibility and track and process related paperwork such as verifications, special circumstances, external scholarships, and loan applications.
  • Assists in the preparation and presentation of information regarding federal financial aid, scholarships, employment and grants during various campus events.
  • Analyze student FAFSA, admission, and awarding information to find opportunities to maximize student's aid.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • 1-2 years of experience required
  • Full time position, Monday- Friday  8am-5pm
  • Expertise working with diverse students and employees
