POSITION OVERVIEW:  The associate director of annual giving is a vital role on the University Advancement team. Reporting to the director of development, this person is responsible for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive annual giving program to build a pipeline of sustainable financial support from students, alumni, parents, and friends intended to advance the university's mission. The annual giving program includes direct mail, e-solicitation, text solicitation, phonathon, personal solicitation, and the management of volunteer fundraising committees.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan aimed at maximizing annual support and donor participation from a variety of audiences, including students, alumni, parents, and friends.
  • Utilize state-of-the art annual giving techniques and analytics to maximize efficiencies and results.
  • Develop and implement effective direct mail, telephone, electronic, new media, face-to-face, and volunteer solicitation strategies.
  • Enhance phonathon program through strategic segmenting and scripting to bolster donor acquisition, renewal, and increase.
  • Work with Advancement Services to coordinate prompt gift processing and donor recognition activities.
  • Coordinate with Major Gift's team and other gift officers to ensure strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of lead annual gift prospects. 
  • Work with the associate director of advancement communications and grants and MarCom to create effective and strategic messaging plans. 
  • Work with the director of development on portfolio management, prospect identification, reporting and data mining. 
  • Develop and implement all aspects of the annual giving communication plan to include segmented written, electronic, and verbal messaging and related collateral material.
  • Recruit, train, and manage student supervisors and the Phonathon calling team.
  • Create a system to provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that can be shared with key stakeholders. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

                                               

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; three (3) years related work experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in annual giving strategies and analytics, including lead annual gift level ($1,000+) fundraising experience and a background of managing a prospect portfolio.
  • Must have well-developed organizational, planning, prioritizing, administrative and presentation skills.  Must be self-motivated and driven to the achievement of results. Must have the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at one time and in a busy environment. 
  • Must have proven and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to connect with a wide spectrum of people.  Must have proven experience in effectively contacting, answering queries of, and building relationships with donors, parents of students, and alumni as well as the regional business community.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, tact, confidentiality and initiative.  Must be upbeat and a team player.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with a diverse audience of individuals who have differing affiliations with the University.
  • Should be highly organized, detail-oriented, innovative, and have a keen eye for interpreting data.
  • Should be attuned and open to exploring cutting-edge techniques and strategies within the industry. 
  • Ability to produce high-quality work on deadline; comfortable managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently; demonstrated service-oriented approach, personal initiative, and creative thinking.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of customer service and professionalism.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in support of the goals of George Fox University.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficient with donor database. PeopleSoft knowledge a plus.
