Overview of the Position

 

George Fox University's Admissions team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to serve as Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions for Student Engagement. In this leadership role, your goal will be to successfully engage prospective students in the admissions process in a way that increases yield and ultimately enrollment at George Fox University. This will require research and development of strategies that utilize new platforms and mediums that embrace the technology and culture of the present day in a way that compels students to join the George Fox Community. Engagement is an emerging field in the admissions industry, but this position will understand and contribute to the idea that on campus visits are the pinnacle of successful engagement and will point their efforts toward this key metric. When large scale events are able to again be part of our engagement strategy, this position will have direct oversight and responsibility for executing these. In the past this has included but would not be limited to Bruin Preview, Scholarship Competitions, Genesis, Fellowship Day, and Commitment Day.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to utilize available institutional and regional data to conduct research and analysis of recruitment trends, enrollment indicators, and create reports to measure outcomes and inform recruitment strategy. It will be crucial for this position to engage with new ideas and partnerships that support our recruitment strategy and help communicate them across the division.  Identifying and building relationships with stakeholders in admissions, marketing, academics and alumni of George Fox will be crucial to the success of this position.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the admissions and financial aid leadership to provide clear purpose, goals, and direction for the team. Essential Responsibilities:

 

  1. Research and implementation of compelling student engagement initiatives that improve yield and enrollment.
  2. This position will have direct oversight and responsibility for executing large on campus events when we are able to hold them. In the past this has included but would not be limited to Bruin Preview, Scholarship Competitions, Genesis, Fellowship Day, and Commitment Day.
  3. Evaluate current visitor and engagement efforts and propose and lead the implementation of enhancements to the program
  4. Work within our database to record, quantify and report on engagement activities
  5. Be a collaborative member of the Visits and Events team in accomplishing our mission of connecting our prospective students and families to the George Fox experience in engaging, memorable and authentic ways
  6. Build and manage communication and collaboration with other academic and administrative units and offices to support student engagement efforts
  7. Supervise an admissions intern (10 hours/week) to accomplish core Assistant Director responsibilities
  8. Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service
  9. By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role
  10. Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

 

  1. Bachelors degree required
  2. Previous experience in customer service and project management or event planning/coordination
  3. Strong communication skills (oral and written) required
  4. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
  5. Ability to work independently and in a team and provide leadership for event helpers
  6. Strong self-motivation and initiative
  7. Willingness to work cooperatively and constructively with a wide variety of people
  8. Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  9. Valid Driver's License
  10. An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement
  11. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions
