Assistant Director of Sports Information and Marketing

Position Overview:

The Assistant Director of Sports Information and Marketing will support the Athletic Department
Administration to continually promote and market the University's Athletics programs; assisting in the operation of a department, which sponsors 21 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III varsity sports. Primary duties center on assisting the Sports Information Director in managing the operations of an NCAA Division III sports information office and all media relations functions. The assistant director will share responsibility for all aspects of traditional game day sports information operations, which include marketing materials, producing pre and post-game notes/interviews, arranging for action photography,
logging game statistics and reporting results. The Assistant Director of Sports Information and Marketing will support in the activities of a (NCAA) program and foster an environment that promotes the university's core values and a commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.


This is a part time, 25 hour a week position, 11 month contract

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Assist the SID to develop, implement and update an annual plan to promote 21 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic programs, with full oversight of 6-8 programs including game day administrative responsibilities.
2. Collaborate with the Associate Athletic Director and AD to promote and market George Fox University Athletics.
3. Responsible for creating story and social media graphics of assigned programs.
4. Assist in developing and maintain the Athletic Department website and social media presence.
5. Assist individual coaches to coordinate promotional material for their respective team.
6. Assist in the coordination and training of the statistics crew.
7. Responsible for supervising, writing, editing and designing of assigned athletic publications (media guides, game programs, pre and post event stories).
8. Work closely with the SID to manage a student team who is responsible for stats, tickets, graphics, storytelling and other game day responsibilities.
9. Maintain current and accurate statistical files and historical archives for each varsity sport.
10. Assist in creating and implementing a creative content calendar.
11. Create and edit video highlights and promotional packages
12. Provide statistics to the NCAA national office and the Northwest Conference (NWC) office, as well as the media
13. Assist the Associate Athletic Director including, but not limited to, the planning, development, and execution of assigned athletics events, including conference championships.
14. Work closely with Marketing and Communications (MarCom) to align the athletic department with the University's marketing mission.
15. Coordinate with other offices and departments on campus as needed including Admissions and MarCom.
16. Stay up-to-date, knowledgeable and compliant with all NCAA and NWC rules and regulations

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Sports Management, Marketing or Communications is required, a Master's degree is preferred
2. Minimum of 2 years Sports Information, Marketing or Sport Management experience, preferably in a small college or university setting.
3. The successful candidate must also have excellent event management, organizational and writing skills.
4. Specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities: Desktop publishing skills as related to the production of publications required. Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop Illustrator, and Stat Crew necessary.
5. An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with

6. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
