Assistant Director of Admissions for Outreach and Community Partnerships

George Fox University's Admissions team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to serve as the Assistant Director for Outreach and Community Partnerships. In this leadership role, your goal will be to successfully attract and enroll underrepresented populations at George Fox University. This includes developing a comprehensive diversity recruitment plan, detailing communication and engagement strategies designed to increase the enrollment of underrepresented students.

The ideal candidate will be able to utilize available institutional and regional data to conduct research and analysis of recruitment trends, enrollment indicators, and create reports to measure outcomes and inform recruitment strategy. It will be crucial for this position to engage with internal and external diversity-related organizations and government agencies that support our recruitment strategy. Identifying and building relationships with community-based organizations serving underrepresented students across all recruitment territories traveled by the Office of Admissions will be a primary focus for this role, however this position will also get the opportunity to personally work with an assigned geographic territory as an admissions counselor. This position also helps lead the admissions office in eliminating bias and addressing systemic issues that cause barriers to enrollment.

As an on-campus leader, developing partnerships with key stakeholders within George Fox will be expected as well. Right away, this person will need to establish relationships with employees in the Intercultural Resource Center (IRC). These relationships will inform recruitment strategy and be leveraged to create cohesive pathways to enrollment and eventual graduation. Effectively handing off students from the recruitment process to services on campus in the IRC and beyond will be crucial to helping underrepresented students achieve their educational goals.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Admissions and financial aid leadership to provide clear purpose, goals, and direction for the team. Responsibilities:

  • Communicating the value of a George Fox education to an assigned population of students and moving them toward enrollment
  • Create and maintain relationships and partnerships with people and organizations that influence underrepresented prospective students
  • Help lead the admissions team in eliminating bias and addressing systemic barriers to enrollment
  • Contribute to the leadership of the admissions office by providing input to policy and decision-making
  • Review applications and evaluate students for admissibility
  • Plan and implement ongoing outreach and recruitment initiatives, possibly events
  • Answer questions, inquiries or requests from students or parents in person, by phone or in writing regarding admissions and recruiting processes.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience immersed in an underrepresented or diverse group strongly preferred
  • Two years of experience working in a higher education institution.
  • Experience in recruitment, admissions, and/or experience planning large events and managing complex projects.
  • Experience working in a diverse environment and/or with students from diverse backgrounds is required.
  • Experience utilizing technology such as a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
  • The ability to learn and follow complex procedures and detailed policies while working with minimal supervision is required.
  • Effective decision-making skills are required.
  • A fundamental understanding of current issues and challenges facing individuals representing diverse backgrounds is required.
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
  • Familiarity with the key initiatives in the recruitment and promotion of individuals representing diverse backgrounds is preferred.
