Assistant Director for the Institute of Pastoral and Congregational Thriving

Proposed Workload:

The assistant director for the Institute of Pastoral and Congregational Thriving is a .30 FTE staff administrative position at Portland Seminary, located in Tigard, Oregon. The position is in support of the Director of Thriving in communications, planning, and administration of two Lilly Endowment, Inc. grants; Thriving Congregations grant (10 hours per week) and Thriving Pastors grant (5 hours per week).

Job description/Essential Functions:

• Interfacing with staff, pastors, administrators and the Thriving team.
• Networking through online and face to face communications with local congregations and ministers related to the Institute for Pastoral and Congregational Thriving at Portland Seminary.
• Planning and hosting annual summits, retreats and fundraising dinner.
• Purchasing, requisitioning, making reservations, rentals, payments, stipends and reporting on expenses.
• Administrative support for the annual budget.
• Managing the dissemination of media (print, video, and social media) and website updates related to the Institute.
• Assist in writing the annual narrative and budget reports for the Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Minimum Requirements:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.

• Strong attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
• 2 years of professional administrative support experience required; 2 years of college preferred
• High level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as enthusiastic about working in a collaborative environment.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills.
• Superior oral and written communication skills and outstanding service orientation.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency: including Google platform, Microsoft Office Suite (word processing and Excel), email, internet, data base, web, etc.
• Proven track record of discretion and integrity in maintaining confidentiality.
