Admissions Data Analyst

POSITION OVERVIEW:  We're hiring a curious, self-motivated, and gritty Data Analyst to dive deeply into our admissions data, working collaboratively across teams and sharing insights. You will play a central role in bringing data to the forefront of admissions decisions and be an important data advisor on broad new objectives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of discovering patterns and previously hidden insights that can provide a competitive advantage or address an enrollment challenge. Gather, consolidate, and present complex data sets in clear ways for end users to make actionable decisions.
• Leverage expertise in computer science, software development, and the latest technologies to analyze and implement analysis infrastructure and tools, analytic workflow processes, and complex data visualizations. Apply knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts or computer science, or domains to ensuring software solutions meet analytic requirements.
• Understand the entire lifecycle of the admissions process and design data mappings and transformations to ensure solid database integrations. This position has the unique opportunity to inform the strategy of data input, system setup, and data output.
• Initiate and execute on ideas to improve system setup and businesses processes for maximum efficiency. Participate in the identification and validation of key performance indicators.
• Write technical specifications, requirements, and other documentation as required. Develop process maps of existing data flow and activities and re-design and implement business processes to meet key objectives.
• Act as liaison between admissions team and IT to translate business needs into technical language. Act as project leader and work with IT team to design and construct strategies and logic to ensure all outcomes are as expected. Coordinate with downstream offices to ensure data flow is inherited and reported correctly. Work with external vendors on system integrations and solution-oriented technology strategies.
• Lead or consult in user acceptance test exercises to ensure results are acceptable and meet requirements.
• Provide training, documentation, and support for admissions recruiters on both campuses and visits and events team to answer inquiries and troubleshoot questions as needed
• Assertively find and fill voids as needed

 QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree required
• Expertise or degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or related field
• Technical experience regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
• Expert at query and report writing
• Experience in bridging between business processes and data extraction
• An inquiring mind; a willingness to challenge the status quo
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
