Admissions Data Analyst
George Fox University's Admissions Systems department is seeking a curious, self-motivated, and gritty Admissions Data Analyst to dive deeply into their admissions data and work collaboratively across teams to share insights.
About the Job:
The Admissions Data Analyst will play a central role in bringing data to the forefront of admissions decisions and be an important data advisor on broad new objectives. They will be responsible for data integration both into and out of our main system and will be a subject matter expert on relational database theory and querying.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Utilizing various tools, such as Python, SQL, CLI, a Scheduler, etc. to create and maintain seamless, automated data integration both into and out of our main system. This will often require working with outside vendors. (35%)
- Designing, Implementing, and Advising experimentation and tests to help business leaders make decisions based on sound statistical analysis while utilizing domain knowledge and modern techniques. Leveraging expertise in computer science, software development, and the latest technologies to analyze and implement analysis infrastructure and tools, analytic workflow processes, and complex data visualizations. Applying knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts or computer science, or domains to ensuring software solutions meet analytic requirements. This will require statistical knowledge, Python and SQL. (20%)
- Creating automated dashboards and other reports based on analytical principles to help business leaders get to aggregate data as close to live time as possible. This will require knowledge of Python, SQL, and our CRM's UI. (15%)
- Designing, Implementing, and Automating a Data Warehouse from various sources, allowing the data to be saved and easily retrieved. This will require Python, RDBMS knowledge, Data Engineering principles, CRM knowledge, and SQL. (15%)
- Supporting other team members and those in other departments with data retrieval and CRM Support. This will require Strong SQL. (10%)
- Managing Task and conflicting priorities both in time and personnel, and collaborate within and outside the department to ensure that data has integrity and is standardized and utilized throughout the organization (5%)
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
- Other duties as assigned.
A day in the life of this position:
The Admissions Data Analyst will spend time generating reports and regular datasets or report information for end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts. They will integrate data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements. Additionally, they will program and maintain report forms and formats, information dashboards, data generators, canned reports, and other end-user information portals or resources. This individual may create specifications for reports based on business requests.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher degree
- OR Trade/Vocational School certificate or Associates degree with 3 years of experience.
- Expert Knowledge of Python and Computer Science Skills (OOP, Software Development, etc.).
- Strong Knowledge of SQL and Database Design.
- Strong Database Design Concepts.
- Knowledge of Statistics and how to apply them to business decisions.
- The ability to understand and explain technical challenges/concepts to non-technical people.
- A passion for helping people understand and use technology to solve their business problems, along with patience necessary to explain CRM functions whenever needed.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:
- Knowledge of UNIX or Linux or CLI to run applications.
- Knowledge of API and SFTP for Integration.
- Machine Learning knowledge.
