ARC Coordinator

Purpose for the Position:
Manage all activities of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) and Open Study Table (OST) with the goal of supporting student learning and academic success; collaborate on targeted support for first generation students, students of color, low income students, students with disabilities, and other identified high-risk students.


Essential Responsibilities:
1. Enact best practices for promoting student learning and development through the services of a writing and learning center. (30%)
2. Recruit, hire, and provide ongoing training for 12-15 ARC and OST student staff (15%)
3. Direct the Academic Success Program in collaboration with the Director of Learning Support Services, provide support for students who are underprepared for the academic challenges that will face them at the University. (20%)
4. Hire and supervise 4-5 Academic Success Program (ASP) graduate student Academic Mentors, meeting weekly to review students enrolled in CPAS 100 and 105 courses. (15%)
5. Coordinate staff work schedules and scheduling of student appointments. (15%)
6. Manage TutorTrac online scheduling and reporting system. (5%)

Associated Duties:
1. Manage Textbook Assistance Fund requests and acquisition of materials.
2. Market ARC and OST services and other learning resources using social media, classroom presentations, outreach events, and other methods.
3. Assess all ARC services and evaluate student employees, using data to inform decision-making and professional development.
4. Collaborate with faculty to support required appointments, classroom writing workshops, and other writing and learning support activities.
5. Meet with students on academic probation or on Financial Aid plans to determine appropriate support.
6. Plan and coordinate academic workshops on writing and learning strategies.
7. Provide individual coaching for high-risk students as needed.
8. Lead publication of LSS Newsletter targeted toward faculty, staff, and administration two to four times per academic year.
9. Collaborate with organizations on campus including, but not limited to, Student Life, SpIL IRC, IDEA Center, DAS, Athletic Department, and Murdock Library.
10.Participate in faculty development and engagement opportunities to support student learningand success.
11. Participate in professional organizations and meetings to remain current in best practices.

13.Connect students with campus resources as needed, including the Health and Counseling Center, Spiritual Life, Housing, Study Abroad, Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, Student Accounts.
14.Maintain Policies and Procedures Manual for the ARC.
15.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of three years working in a relevant role within an educational setting, preferably within higher education.
2. Master's degree required, preferably in a field related to writing, learning, or student success.
3. Fluency with writing instruction theories and practice, preferably with experience teaching college writing.
4. Prefer experience in a college learning center, writing center, or other tutoring environment.
5. Deep commitment to promoting college student learning and success, with particular attention to supporting diverse students with diverse ways of engaging with the academic experience.
6. Strong administrative skills, project management, and interpersonal skills; excellent oral and writing skills; ability to work with and develop a team; adept at working well with people of diverse backgrounds, skill levels, and personalities.
7. High attention to detail, receptive to constructive feedback, collaborative spirit.
8. Self-motivated, ready to take initiative, integrity with work responsibilities and confidential information.
9. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
