Purpose for the Position: The Spiritual and Intercultural Life (SpIL) Trips Coordinator provides administrative support for the Associate campus pastor in the promotion, coordination and implementation of all international and domestic, immersion and service trips for the SpIL Trips program. This is a 10 hour per week, part-time regular position.


Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Coordinates arrangements for campus publicity, student application processes, informational meetings, fee payment collection, fundraising instruction, trip preparation retreats and meetings, transportation, insurance, emergency preparedness, re-entry arrangements, evaluations and other logistics for all travel.
  • Works collaboratively with internal departments and external businesses to ensure preparations are secure for travel.
  • Manages the general organization and order of the SpIL Trips program as directed by the associate campus pastor, including scheduling, facility reservation, supplies, travel logistics, calendars, correspondence, tracking and reporting on restricted accounts, reconciling expenses, and initiating payments related to training and travel expenses.
  • Resource, coordinate, schedule and support program training, preparation meetings, re-entry/reunion meetings, trip, leader and program evaluations.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrate awareness, respect and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and work well with a variety of people.


 Associated Duties:

  • Participates in the program development and logistical planning for all SpIL Trips and related events.
  • Works closely with student interns and student employees to provide opportunities and programs that reflect the University's core values and encourage the spiritual growth of students.
  • Participates in occasional evening and weekend department events


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an associates degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One to two years of relevant clerical, administrative, program management or event planning with an emphasis on information management, accounting and logistical details
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Passion and understanding for the holistic/spiritual formation and intercultural competence of contemporary university students, the learning and application of Christian community development principles, and familiarity with experiential education, service-learning and/or civic engagement
  • Personal experience traveling internationally for cross-cultural immersion and service, as well as experience communicating and arranging logistics for groups traveling for the purpose of intercultural immersions and/or service trips.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and computer skills, including Word, Excel, Access and website maintenance, and ability to type 45 wpm.
  • Multilingual/Bilingual proficiency preferred.
  • An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with same.
